There are many supplements available for acid reflux - Acid-Ease by Enzymatic Therapy and Reflux Away by NaturalCare to name two. Most products will contain some form of licorice. According to our support documents on indigestion licorice/DGL protects the mucous membrane lining of the digestive tract. Licorice root in its deglycyrrhizinated form (DGL) has the glycyrrhizic acid removed (the portion associated with increasing blood pressure and water retention in some individuals). DGL has been shown to improve the quality and quantity of the protective substances that line the intestinal tract, increases the lifespan of intestinal cells, and improves blood supply to the intestinal lining. Although much of the research on DGL focuses on ulcers, the experience of many clinicians show that DGL can assist with indigestion. A common recommendation found to provide relief is to take one to two chewable tablets of DGL (250–500 mg) fifteen minutes to an hour before meals and one to two hours before bedtime. For best results, chew DGL tablets thoroughly and swallow with as little water as possible, since it helps heal by direct contact with the cells of the gastrointestinal lining.

Intestinal flora plays a major role in gastrointestinal health, and for this reason probiotics are indicated for indigestion and GERD. Intestinal bacteria, such as acidophilus, promote healthy digestion and can help eradicate indigestion (see attached).

I recommend setting up a coaching session with one of our Nutritional Health Coaches to review our support documents on "Nutrition and Indigestion". This is a free service and attached is a list of phone numbers for the NHC's in each store. The first step in eradicating indigestion symptoms is to identify and eliminate the causes. The NHC can help you to do this.
