Attached are documents on fish oil and supplements for mental wellness. They will provide a list of nutrients that are good for the brain. The following information will help answer some of the specific questions you have:

Essential fatty acids (EPA/DHA) found in fish oil are essential for proper brain function and vision. They are one of, if not the, most important nutrient group when it comes to supporting the brain.

Vitamin C and proanthocyanidins (found in grape seed extract) are essential for several brain functions. Vitamin C is needed to manufacture neurotransmitters, and the proanthocyanidins modify enzymatic activities particular to the brain.
.
Vitamin E protects neurons from damage by free radical and according to the book 'Brain Longevity' it even restores damaged neurotransmitter receptor sites on neurons.

B-Complex Vitamins have diverse supportive roles in mood and brain energy levels.

The rest of the attached documents provide discussions on why natural foods are best for optimal health, specific foods for brain functioning, and the importance of water to good health.

I believe this information will be helpful for the patient with dementia. Recommended books for further research are 'Brain Longevity' by Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D. and 'Feed Your Genes Right' by Jack Challem
