UTI: I've been taking antibiotics and now D-Mannose and still having a hard time urinating. I wonder what suggestions you may have or direction I may take to cure this problem which has been affecting me for weeks.

Since you have been taking antibiotics my first recommendation is acidophilus to help restore “friendly” bacteria which strengthen immune function. Kyo-Dophilus is a good product as is Acidophilus Pearls by Enzymatic Therapy. Take as directed on the label. If you are still on antibiotics take the acidophilus 3-4 hours away from the medication.
It is unfortunate the D-mannose doesn’t seem to be working for you because it can make a significant impact on the elimination of most bladder infections especially those caused by E. coli. You didn’t mention the dosage you were taking but for adults, ½ to 1 teaspoonful of mannose dissolved in water and taken every 2 to 3 hours can be effective.
Vitamin C with bioflavonoids in a fairly high dose can be beneficial also. Increase dosage gradually up to bowel tolerance (when diarrhea begins) then back off and continue that amount until condition improves.
There are some herbal formulas that can be helpful. Soloray’s SP-6 Cornsilk Blend or Nature’s Way Kidney Bladder are herbal formulas that have a diuretic effect and reduce bladder spasms.
Drinking enough filtered or spring water is very important. Half your body weight in ounces of water a day is a personalized amount. Below is an attached document explaining further the importance of drinking fluids and staying hydrated.
According to the book Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Phyllis A. Balch, CNC bladder infections in men may signal a more serious problem, such as prostatitis. I recommend talking with your doctor again if this bladder infection does not clear up.
