I have received a catalog from Health & Healing. In it they say Vanadium will knock out my 130-170 range blood sugar level but to be careful on how much I take. I walk 2 miles every day and I watch my sugar and carb intake.

Vanadyl Sulfate (the recommended form to take) is the biologically active form of the trace element vanadium. Vanadium plays important roles in managing the levels of sugar and lipids found in the blood. Vanadium is a mineral that aids insulin’s ability to move glucose into the cells. According to Linda Page, PhD in her book Healthy Healing “recent studies have found that vanadium improves sugar metabolism for non-insulin dependent diabetics” and “high levels of vanadium can be toxic”. I recommend taking the amount as directed on the label of a quality product. The most common dose on two of the supplements we sale is 5mg (5000mcg). Enzymatic Therapy carries a product called Glucose Regulation that contains 5mg of Vanadyl Sulfate along with other vitamins and minerals. Country Life’s Vanadyl Sulfate also contains a 5mg single dose.
There are some good food sources of this trace element: whole grains, fish, olives, radishes, and vegetables. I suggest that you browse through this website to access more information about whole foods and supplements that balance blood sugar levels.
